Start at the power adapter

Look at the adapter housing for cracks, separation, discoloration, heat marks, deformation, moisture, or a loose cable entry. Check that the plug pins and sockets look straight and clean.

Do not open the adapter or attempt an internal repair. If the housing or cable entry is damaged, stop using it and contact the manufacturer or an authorized service source.

Inspect the full cable length

Run your eyes along the cable without pulling or sharply bending it. Look for cuts, exposed conductors, crushed areas, flattened sections, tight kinks, melted insulation, burn marks, or places where the outer covering has separated.
